Top Rod Service

Ble startet i 2026 av Mattias Olsson og Steffen Granbo

Mattias Olsson

Mattias began his fishing life as a young boy in his local lake. His interest in fishing gradually grew over the years, and when he turned 30, he received his first single-handed fly rod (Pool 12) as a gift from good friends. The following year, under the glowing midnight sun in Finnmark, northern Norway, he experienced the joy of catching his first salmon in the beautiful Repparfjord River.

Now, 26 years later—and after many adventures, especially in Norwegian and Swedish rivers, with a few trips to Scotland—salmon and sea trout fishing have become a major part of his life. Both as an angler and, for nearly 15 years, as a passionate and experienced organizer of group fishing trips to various rivers, primarily in Norway. Some summers include as much as four to five weeks of arranged trips.

In addition, he has for several years organized fishing gatherings for business executives—events where both fishing techniques and fly casting are taught, combined with great conversations around the campfire.

Professionally, he has been involved in building several smaller companies together with partners. Being part of building Top Guide, however, is something of a dream come true.

Steffen Granbo

Steffen followed in the footsteps of his father, Jan Erik. His first casts with a fly rod were made before he turned three, and the following summer he caught his first trout on a dry fly by himself. In the salmon river, he held the title of "campfire manager" for a few years, while reeling in salmon hooked by his father—giving him the perfect foundation for eventually landing his first salmon on his own.

For the past 25 years, he has spent 30–50 days by the river each summer. His pursuit of salmon has taken him to around 30 different rivers across Norway. With a strong focus on detail and equipment solutions, this has given him extensive experience under all kinds of conditions.

Steffen's guiding career began at the age of 10, helping his father with salmon fishing courses in the Gaula River. Since then, he has regularly held courses and guided every summer.

"Teaching others how to cast and fish with a fly rod—so they can truly enjoy fly fishing—gives me great satisfaction. I know how much this has meant to me over the years."
